Is It Possible to Avoid Drains Entirely?

Most straightforward implant removals do not require drains. When our surgical team expects little fluid or does not perform capsulectomy, drains might not be needed at all. However, for patients with thick scar tissue, leaks, or a history of seromas, using drains provides a safer and smoother recovery.

How Do Drains Impact Showering and Mobility?

Patients with drains in place must take extra care during showers to keep the area dry and avoid pulling on the tubing. Our team supplies waterproof covers and shows safe techniques for getting clean comfortably. While drains limit some upper body movements, gentle walking and easy daily tasks usually feel manageable very soon after surgery.

Does Drain Removal Hurt?

Drain removal usually causes only brief discomfort, and most patients describe it as more odd than painful. Our surgeon removes the tubes quickly during a clinic visit, and pain relief medication is rarely necessary for this step. Factors like scar tissue, the location of the drain, and individual healing differences can affect how the removal feels.
