How long will swelling and bruising last?

Most swelling peaks two to three days after surgery, then gradually decreases during the next two weeks. Bruising also usually fades in seven to ten days. A small amount of firmness or swelling may last several weeks as deeper tissues heal.

When can I resume exercise or yoga?

Light walking is safe and helpful within days of your procedure, but strenuous activities, stretching, or yoga with neck movement must wait until cleared by our team. Usually, this is three to four weeks after surgery.

Can I massage my neck to help scars heal faster?

Yes, but only after approval from our surgeon. Proper timing and technique matter greatly, as early or aggressive massage can actually worsen scars or healing.

What kind of pillow should I use for sleeping?

A firm, supportive pillow or a wedge pillow that elevates your head helps reduce swelling and keeps your neck in a safe position overnight.

Is numbness around my incision normal?

Mild numbness or tingling is common and usually improves as nerves regenerate. Some patients report occasional tingling or itching that resolves over several months.
