For patients who choose to visit for an in-office consultation, Dr. Gruszynski will meet with you to discuss your areas of concern and help develop a treatment plan that best suits your unique anatomy and individual goals. As a traveling patient, you will need to consider some additional requirements and precautions. Dr. Gruszynski and our staff will walk you through any necessary aftercare or recovery guidelines that are pertinent to your ability to travel.
If you cannot travel to meet with Dr. Gruszynski in person, your first step to having plastic surgery in Scottsdale is to schedule a phone consultation with one of our knowledgeable staff members. This will help us to determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure based on your goals and medical history. If so, we may also request that you share “before” photos of yourself with our team ahead of arrival to assist in communication and planning.
To make the process efficient and timely, you can download all patient forms from the website and submit them in advance. Dr. Gruszynski will review them to determine if you are a candidate for your desired procedure(s). Generally, you can schedule your consultation and surgery to occur during the same trip, if desired.
If Dr. Gruszynski has requested “before” photos, take your photos from the following angles for each area of interest:
- Facing the camera
- The left side towards the camera
- The right side towards the camera
- Body angled 45 degrees to the left
- Body angled 45 degrees to the right
Depending on the procedure you seek, Dr. Gruszynski may suggest additional angles or areas of focus for you to photograph.
Contact us today to schedule your initial phone consultation. We look forward to working with you.
If you travel from out of state or out of the country, Dr. Gruszynski encourages you to contact us to arrange procedures well before your desired treatment date.
Please allow two to three months of lead time to guarantee we can schedule your procedure during your preferred travel window.
The length of postoperative stay in the area will depend on the procedures performed. During your consultation, Dr. Gruszynski or a staff member will provide you with specific information for your chosen procedure(s).
Follow-up appointments are arranged on a flexible schedule.
Taking the time to prepare for your surgery properly can make a difference, particularly when you are undergoing a procedure away from home.
Patient safety and satisfaction are of the utmost importance to Dr. Gruszynski.
Providing a full list of medications and supplements is crucial for a safe surgery and smooth recovery period. Although specific instructions may vary based on patient and procedure, there are some standard things you should do before surgery:
- You must cease smoking at least two weeks in advance if you are a smoker.
- Avoid taking vitamin supplements for at least ten days before and after surgery.
- Do not take supplements or ingest food or drinks that contain ingredients that slow blood clotting or thin the blood, such as aspirin or green tea.
- Create a comprehensive list of medications, vitamins, or supplements you regularly take, including dosages, to share with Dr. Gruszynski.
Your procedure and healing time will determine when it is safe to resume normal daily habits.
Dr. Gruszynski takes every precaution to ensure you are as comfortable as possible after surgery. Some postoperative soreness, bruising, and swelling are normal.
Wound care, nutrition, and medication can all contribute to the healing process.
We can recommend services such as a private chef to cook or assist with meal prep, allied healthcare providers such as in-home nursing staff, lymphatic massage technicians, in-home IV therapy, etc., to assist in your recovery.
We recommend traveling with a spouse, friend, or family member for most surgeries, particularly for any procedure requiring general anesthesia.
You will need someone to drive you back to your hotel and stay with you for the first evening while the effects of anesthesia wear off. If you are traveling alone, inform one of our patient care coordinators, who will help arrange postoperative care and assistance.
Additionally, we offer car service and overnight nursing care should the need arise.
We will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions appropriate to your procedure.
We recommend planning to get the most out of your visit to Scottsdale. Our staff is glad to help with your arrangements so that you can focus on preparing for your surgery.
Although your procedure and recovery timeline will vary based on your circumstances and chosen procedure(s), you can review average recovery times to get a rough idea of how long you should plan to stay:
Facial procedures: most facial surgery patients are allowed to travel within seven days of surgery
Breast surgery: most patients can travel within seven days of breast shaping procedures
Body contouring: we typically ask patients to stay for ten days after a body contouring procedure
Follow-up appointments are arranged on a flexible schedule.
PLEASE NOTE: If you plan to travel more than 4 hours, it is important to communicate your plans to Dr. Gruszynski.
Extended air travel may pose additional risks.
You may need to follow special instructions to minimize the risk of complications and ensure comfort during the trip.
For most procedures, you will need to walk for at least 5 minutes per two-hour period and ensure proper circulation by flexing and pointing your toes and bending and extending the knees.
